Is School Dress Code Unfair?

“Blah Blah blah” everyone thinks that school dress codes are fair and reasonable but i don’t think they are. I think dress codes are unfair because they are sexist, they don’t let kids express who they are and some dress codes don’t accept cultures and i have a reason to make this claim just read my essay to find out more on why i don’t think dress codes are fair.

The first reason why i think school dress code is unfair is because school dress code can be sexist. For example, students must follow the “fingertip rule” meaning your shorts and skirts have to be past your fingertips even if you are wearing shorts or a skirt over your leggings. Another example would be, leggings are treated as tights so they must be worn with shorts or a skirt that follow the fingertip rule. My last example is, students can’t show their stomachs or shoulders meaning you can’t wear belly shirts, tank tops ect. All of these rules are targeted towards girls therefore proving my reason that most school dress codes are sexist and target girls.

The second reason as to why i think school dress code is unfair is that some school dress code doesn’t let students express themselves. For example, school uniforms make students wear the same thing everyday and is blocking the students from expressing themselves with their clothing and making them wear what the schools want them to wear. My second example is, you can’t wear rings or keychains or any kind of jewelry so students can’t wear necklaces and rings meaning the students can’t wear their jewelry to express themselves.

Many critics argue that dress code is fair and doesn’t affect anyone but dress code can affect people’s self confidence.

The third reason on why i think school dress code is unfair is that some schools discriminate against cultures. For example, teachers told six-year-old Clinton Stanley, Jr. that he couldn’t attend the first day of school because they claimed his dreadlocks “too long”. Another example is that, a student named DeAndre Arnold faced in school suspension and the threat of not being able to graduate just because of his dreadlocks. My last example is that, teachers pulled Mya and Deanna Cook out of class because their braids were “too distracting”. These examples prove that some schools discriminate against cultures.

When students are forced to follow a dress code like wearing uniforms or covering their shoulders or not showing their stomachs they can also start to feel less confident and being told they can’t wear tank tops in the summer and if they do show their skin they´ll be punished and that way students can’t express themselves and school dress codes can be sexist and target girls so the won´t be ¨distracting¨ to the other students trying to learn. School dress codes can also be racist and target people of other cultures like saying their braids are ¨too long and distracting¨ and being punished for their culture. In my opinion school dress codes are unfair.

Mistakes aren’t Always a Bad Thing

When you make mistakes you learn from them and learn it’s okay to make the mistakes, Right? Well that’s what Pip the dog did they learned from their mistakes. In the short animated film Pip, Pip failed tests and learned it’s okay to make mistakes. In the short animated film Pip. The theme is it’s ok to make mistakes.

In the beginning of the film the theme is it’s okay to make mistakes, Pip learned it’s okay to make mistakes by failing the guide dog tests. Pip also learned it’s okay to make mistakes by fixing what they did wrong on the tests, they fixed it by improvising and jumping to stop their food and paying attention to the tests and not getting distracted.

In the middle of the film the theme is, it’s okay to make mistakes because Pip the dog failed the big final test, Pip was doing so well they were so happy that they did the tests right that he got distracted and missed the end bump and they lady fell and they failed. Also everyone watching Pip learned it’s okay to make mistakes by watching Pip make mistakes.

In the end of the film the theme is, it’s okay to make mistakes because Pip the dog helped the blind lady across the construction site after making all the mistakes and getting kicked out of the guide dog school. Another example is when everyone was watching Pip help the lady across the construction site they saw that Pip learned from their mistakes and thought it was okay to make mistakes.

The animated short film Pip, is a good way to learn that it’s okay to make mistakes and making mistakes isn’t always a bad thing. If Pip wouldn’t have gotten kicked out for making mistakes they would have never seen the blind lady that needing help. That wraps up all my evidence for the theme It’s okay to make mistakes. I learned that making mistakes isn’t always bad just like Pip did and you can too!

Excitement Can Lead to Kindness

Did you know that only 75% of dogs graduate guide school? Well Pip was almost one of those unlucky pups. In the short animated film Pip cheats the height system, gets into training, they finally do the tests right and its exam day. Read this essay to find out more about Pip. In the short animated film Pip. Pip is excited.

In the beginning of the story, Pip is excited because they get to go to the service dog training. They are also excited because they cheat the height system because when they walked up they were too short so they stood on the tip top of their paws and lifted their ear to get in.

In the middle of the story, Pip is excited when they finally do a the test correct. Pip kept failing but finally learned how to do the tests correct. Pip is also excited because its exam day. Pip is excited because they can finally do the tests right so they think they might pass the exam.

In the end of the story, Pip is excited because they help the blind girl across the construction site. Pip is also feeling brave. Pip was also excited because they got awarded a cape for being helpful and a good guide dog, Pip is feeling excited since they got the job and they feel special becasue they are lucky enough to be special pup that gets to help people.

Pip is a brave, happy and helpful dog and will take any moment to do something helpful for someone. As I read on i realized that helping people can be more than just helping you could make someone’s day by helping them. it’s the random acts of kindness that really matter and that could make someone happy.

Tell me about a time you were kind to others!

Why Not to Dress Native for Halloween

                                                                     History of Native American Clothing

The history of Native American clothing is very important. It is important because it is an old culture that should be appreciated more. “How did they make it and what is it made out of?” The primary material used by Native Americans in their clothing was made from animal hides. Generally they used the hides of the animals they hunted for food. Many tribes such as the Cherokee and Iroquois used deerskin. While the Plains Indians, who were bison hunters, used buffalo skin and the Inuit from Alaska used seal or caribou skin. Their tribe made every piece of clothing by hand and that’s why it’s so special.

Why it’s Wrong to Dress Natvie for Halloween

It’s very important to know why it’s bad to dress up in native culture for Halloween, so i’m gonna list some reasons, It is VERY racist, the natives feel like you’re mocking them, the company could get sued if a native saw the costume and reported it and the natives feel attacked and targeted.

                                                                                               Ending

It is very important to educate yourself on what you’re wearing for halloween, you might wanna ask yourself “is this costume offensive to a culture or a person?” if so you probably shouldn’t buy and pick a different costume so you can have fun and wear a costume and not make people feel uncomfortable or attacked.

People’s culture is NOT a costume!

Silverwood

One hot day we were packing for silverwood. We were going with my best friend’s family too. When it was time to leave we got into the car and started going on our 6 hour road trip to idaho.

When we woke up it was time to get ready and go to silverwood, we got in the car and drove to silverwood, “Will you please braid my hair!” I said. “Fine!” my sister said.

When we got there we found my friend and then we went on some water slides, it was so fun. Then I was scared to go on one water slide but then My friends dad, my friend and her brother and my brother and I all went on it together. I really felt like I was about to tip over because we went up on the walls of the slide,”AAAAHHH!” I sceamed. “That was fun!” I exclaimed after we got off.

Then we were all very hungry from all the water slides so we got some chicken strips, Nachos and fries. “That was so good!” I exclaimed. After we were done eating we went to the roller coaster part of silverwood we rode lots of roller coasters and me, my brothers and my mom went on some kids rides while my dad, my sister and my friend rode the giant wooden roller coaster.

We got dippin dots for dessert and then it started to get dark so we went back to the hotel.

The heart of this story was that we all got to hangout and have fun even though it’s Corona time and I’m really lucky for that!

My Cool School (Marshall Elementary)

Marshall Elementary School is a good  school because we have a program called MCEP (Marysville, Cooperative, Education, Partnership) The MCEP allows students to have their parents come in once every week to help out in class, it also allows us to have field trips once every month.

All my siblings went or are attending Marshall Elementary. My sister went there for k-5 and now I’m almost done at Marshall, And my little brothers are in kindergarten. We all had the same kindergarten teacher, that proves that the teachers have been there for a long time.

The MCEP program is also really cool because we go on awesome field trips, for example, My class went to UW for a field trip to learn about engineering. Another example is, The 4th and 5th graders go on a camping field trip.

Having the parents in class is great for learning because they can work with kids one on one or help the teacher with tasks they need. That way the teachers have more time teaching the students.

Problems with Plastic Pollution

The problem with plastic pollution is that it is killing the environment and causing air pollution from burning plastic. It is also causing innocent animals to die. I think a solution for that is to use more things that are reusable such as metal straws and reusable water bottles instead of plastic ones. I also think we should recycle more and pick up the trash we leave around. The plastic pollution is a big problem and I’m wanting to help.

This is what it does to the animals:

This is a dead sea turtle.

This is what our beaches look like:

Q: What will happen if we don’t stop using plastic?

A: When it does, the plastic ends up in a landfill. The plastic ends up buried underneath tons of trash. Over time, the harmful toxic chemicals are leached into the ground and find their way into the groundwater and potentially contaminate drinking water supplies, rivers, streams, and eventually the ocean.

Q: What is the problem with plastic pollution?

A: Air Pollution Burning of plastic in the open air, leads to environmental pollution due to the release of poisonous chemicals. The polluted air when inhaled by humans and animals affect their health and can cause respiratory problems.

Q: How did Plastic Pollution start?

A: Plastic pollution was first noticed in the ocean by scientists carrying out plankton studies in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and oceans and beaches still receive most of the attention of those studying and working to abate plastic pollution.
